Bula!
Time feels like its flying over here and it's not just because we skipped a day coming here! We are totally have the adventure of a lifetime, and are so blessed to be here. We have so little Internet time that we have just been trying to give you the best details and not really catch you up on everything else! So here it goes: we arrived at the Nadi, Fiji airport at almost 6am Wednesday morning after a 11 hour flight! Thankfully we were all able to get a fair amount of sleep on the plane, but staying awake for the rest of the day was a bit of a struggle to stay the least! When we arrived in Nadi, Pastor Brooks and some national Pastors were there to meet us. We hopped on a bus for a 4 hour bus ride to Suva during which Br. Brooks filled us in on all the details and answered all our questions! We arrived in Suva and met up with Br. Donell (a missionary from Australia who will be leaving Friday) and Pastor Ryan (the missionary we are working with while we are here). The rest of the afternoon was spent lugging our luggage around, sorting out plans and getting settled in. Us girls were extremely thrilled to finally have a shower after like 30 hours! We are staying with Sister Marioni and her granddaughter Filo. They are the sweetest people and have been such wonderful hostesses! They have been a part of pastor Ryan's church from the start (14 years ago) and they have also been going to the schools with us to help with the Bibles. They have opened up their hearts and home to us and even though we have only known them for 2 days we truly feel like sisters!:) Filo and us girls are an absolute gaggle of giggles and we have such a blast together! Sister Marioni spoils us rotten and has been a sweet blessing for Mrs. Towle to be able to spend time with! Sister Marioni shared her heart with us during devotions last night, and shared how she was scared to have us as she felt bad about her toilet and bathroom and how her house was not up to North American standards. She shared though how God had showed her through his word that everything would be okay and that she decided to do it for God instead of just trying to please us! What a sweet lady!
The missionary family we are working with is the Grey family. They have been here in Fiji for 14 years and have 4 boys (ages 15, 13, 11, and 10 months) 3 of which were born here in Fiji. They too have spoiled us rotten, driving us around everywhere, allowing us to use their Internet, and helping us through the adjustments of being in a foreign country! For me, having grown up with 4 boys, I am having an absolute blast with these guys! They love to tease and I love to dish it right back to them so we are having a great time with them! The two oldest, Dalton and Caleb have been coming along with their Dad to help with the bibles. And now that our guys have left for the other island, they have also jumped In To help us sing at each of the schools!
As for our schedule, we are doing either 3 or 4 schools each week day that we are here so I think we will be in a total of 38 schools during the 3 weeks we are here! During that time we will be going to one of the largest schools in the area which has over 1000 students! Saturdays the ladies go out on visitation with Pastor Grey's church ladies so I am looking forward to that! Please continue to pray for each school that we go to, that God would open their hearts and their minds to the presentation that we give. Already this morning the Catholic school that we were supposed to go to cancelled on us. Thankfully they have been rescheduled for Monday. You have to just learn to roll with the punches as Pastor Brooks says, and realize that you are on Fiji time! Nothing ever happens as fast As us Canadians and Americans would like! Since our morning school cancelled on us we got to go shopping to kill time! Oh what fun!:) our 11:00 school was amazing! We got a very good response and both Pastor Brooks and Pastor Grey had great liberty in speaking! The 1:30 school was another story....approximately 1000 students and unfortantely it is known as the rebel school. We had 1/2 an hour to give our presentation and get the bibles out, but God amazingly worked everything out and we were able to get all the Bibles out! We are now on our way back to pastor Grey's house where I believe volleyball is next on the agenda!
Tha is again for all your prayers and please continue to pray! We desperately need them as we go to each school! Only god can open their hearts to what we are bringing!
Pictures are of the house where we are staying, the schools we did today, our trip to MacDonalds and shopping!:)
